The Ghana Association of Medical Herbalists (GAMH) is the sole professional organization for qualified Medical Herbalists in Ghana. GAMH was instituted on the 8th day of June, 2006 after the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology started the BSc Herbal Medicine programme to train competent Herbal Medical Practitioners. GAMH is the leading authority when it comes to the field of herbal medicine practice and products.
Every member of GAMH has obtained a professional license to practice after six (6) years of rigorous training comprising of four (4) year BSc degree in Herbal Medicine, a year of hospital practice and training as part of national service and another year of clinical training with practical experience. Our training equips us with the requisite knowledge and competence to practice primary healthcare using standardized herbal medicines.
Our members undergo continued professional training as a requirement to stay registered. The title Dr. (MH) after a Practitioner’s name should indicate that the practitioner has met and continues to meet our high standards. We offer guidance and support to all herbal medicine institutions across Ghana and media education.
We also partner and look forward to partnering with organizations to organize symposiums, college or school talks, mentorship for students of schools of herbal medicines, conferences, and award programmes
